Privacy Policy

Who we are

Semantikal (“we”, “us”) provides merchandising taxonomy, product-tagging and description tools for online stores. This policy covers semantikal.com and the Semantikal application. The data controller is Semantikal, the operator of semantikal.com; contact us at privacy@semantikal.com.

What we collect

• Account data — your email address, a hashed password, and optional company/profile details you enter (business name, markets, vertical).
• Catalogue data you provide — the product information you upload (CSV) or connect from your store URL: titles, descriptions, prices, images and similar attributes. We use this only to build your taxonomy and tag your products.
• Usage & technical data — basic logs (requests, timestamps, errors) needed to run and secure the service.
• Billing data — handled by our payment processor. We never see or store full card numbers.

How we use it

• To provide the service — calibrate a taxonomy, tag your catalogue, generate descriptions, and show your readiness.
• To operate accounts, teams and billing.
• To secure the service and diagnose problems.
• To communicate with you about your account (verification, password resets, team invitations, service notices).

We do not sell your data, and we do not use your catalogue data to train shared AI models.

AI processing

Parts of the service use large-language-model providers to draft taxonomies and product copy. The relevant product text is sent to these providers to produce a result and is not used by them to train their models on your behalf. AI output is a suggestion for your review, not a guarantee of accuracy.

Service providers (subprocessors)

We share data only with the providers that run the service:

• Anthropic and/or OpenAI — AI taxonomy & description generation.
• Neon — managed Postgres database (data storage).
• Fly.io — application hosting.
• Stripe — subscription billing and payments.
• Resend — transactional email (verification, resets, invites).
• Shopify — where you connect a Shopify store (read-only).

Where data is processed

Our application and database are hosted in the United Kingdom / European region. Some subprocessors may process data in other countries under appropriate safeguards.

Retention

We keep your account and catalogue data while your account is active. You can delete taxonomies and catalogues from within the app at any time, and you can ask us to delete your account and associated data — see below. Backups are retained for a limited period and then overwritten.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, export or delete your personal data, and to object to or restrict certain processing. To exercise these, email privacy@semantikal.com. You may also complain to your local data-protection authority.

Cookies

We use a single essential cookie to keep you signed in. We do not use advertising or third-party tracking cookies.

Security

Passwords are stored hashed, sign-in tokens are stored hashed, data is isolated per account, and any AI keys you provide are encrypted at rest. No system is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable measures to protect your data.

Children

Semantikal is a business tool and is not intended for anyone under 16.

Changes

We may update this policy. Material changes will be reflected in the “last updated” date and, where appropriate, notified to you.
